The course is for all workers, employees, contractors and visitors carrying out, involved with or visiting a site where construction work is undertaken.
This includes general staff, site visitors, self-employed persons, labourers, apprentices, trades-persons, supervisors and project managers. Participants / Students will learn the basic principles of occupational health and safety for the construction industry as well as information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation.
This content of the course covers Safework Australia’s 2013 Construction Work Code of Practice and has been reviewed by the Australian Skills Quality Authority and delivers:
- An explanation of WHS legislative requirements;
- The identification of construction hazards and control measures;
- WHS communication and reporting processes; and
- WHS incident response procedures
The unit of competency is called CPCCWHS1001: Prepare to work safely in the construction industry and has been developed to meet the requirements of the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work in Australia.
Upon completion of this unit of competency which includes a range of knowledge-based and verbal questions by a credentialed assessor and your identification is confirmed you will receive a statement of attainment for the Unit of Competency and a White Card Construction License Card. This is the required process by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, Safe Work Australia and the Construction Skills Council.
You will also need a selection of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to complete the live video verbal assessment. We can provide the PPE as an extra during registration.
The course is simple and easy to do and the assessors are there to help you through the program should you need any assistance.
You will need to complete a live video verbal assessment as part of the course which means you will need access to a webcam enabled device (such as a tablet, smartphone or webcam computer)

Course cost: $57.50 with optional Priority Service upgrade for $12.

Course Content: approx 5 hours.
Assessment: 1+ hours including live video verbal assessment, including, demonstrating fitting of PPE

Once you have completed the course and you have passed all your assessments you will be able to access your declaration form to finalise your course and access your Statement of Attainment by logging into your training dashboard.
